Brother SE-350 Replaced By Brother SE-400 With USB
The Brother SE350 has been replaced and upgraded to the Brother SE400 with USB port and cable. The SE400 is the same great combo embroidery and sewing machine with the added feature of a USB port and cable that attaches to your computer. Download additional embroidery designs from the Internet or read them from CD into your computer. You can then easily import the saved designs from your computer to the SE400. This means that you don’t need to buy expensive software such as the Brother PED-Basic and a card reader/writer when you’re ready to expand beyond the built-in designs.

If you looking to buy a Brother SE350, you’ll get much better value for your money with the new, improved Brother SE400 instead. Same great features and popular machine with the added USB port for importing embroidery designs. You can sometimes find refurbished SE350s. But when you’re calculating the cost, remember that you’ll need to buy software and a card writer such as the Brother PED Basic in order to use additional embroidery designs. And you can get a new SE400 at Amazon for less than the cost of a new SE350 elsewhere.
Brother SE400 (SE 350 + USB) vs HE 240
The Brother HE240 is the same machine as the Brother SE400 (SE350 + USB). The HE240 is sold by HSN. But HSN’s price is over $100 more than Amazon’s. I don’t own a HE240, so I can’t say for sure. But after exhaustive research, it seems like the only difference is that the HE240 comes with three extra presser feet (Cording foot, Narrow hem foot, Piecing foot) and a very nice accessory case. If these extras are worth the extra money to you, buy the HE240 from HSN. If not, you’ll get a better value with the SE400 from Amazon.
